‘BODY IMAGE’ by Disha Khurana
Thesis Abstract:
Body image is the perception that a person has of their physical self and the thoughts and feelings that result from that perception.
The colour of our skin is just a minute segment of our vast generic make up that has been carried forward through the centuries and yet the society that we live in judges out “attractive” quotient majority on our skin colour. Women in the massive subcontinent of India have often been frowned upon as well as shunned based on the colour of their skin, forcing them to doubt whether one is attractive or not. Through this project, I seek to explore multiple societal associations in relation to skin colour. Countless females in the country have grown up listening to taunts from their elders based on the sole premise that their complexion isn’t soothing to their eyes. I am hereby trying to create a campaign for a hypothetical product that displays the unnecessary discrimination of skin colour in the society.
