Thesis Abstract:
Imagination is a peculiar thing; so powerful yet effortless. Accessible to one and all, it’s possibilities are limitless. Memories, the word itself sets off a flashback of memories – some joyous, some bittersweet. Memories make us who we are. They help us recall the who, what, where, and when of our everyday lives; without which we wouldn’t be able to function.
What is imagination? It probably holds a different meaning for everyone. It’s something that distinguishes you from the rest of the crowd, almost as unique as one’s fingerprint-singular to every individual. When we imagine, we blend pictures, sounds, stories and feelings, memories and real- time experiences. Our imagination is created out of the contents of past experiences, our memories. Memory is essential to all our lives. Without a memory of the past we cannot operate in the present or think about the future. We would not be able to remember what we did yesterday, what we have done today or what we plan to do tomorrow. Without memory we cannot learn anything. Due to growing dependence on technology, working memory capacity in general is degrading amongst youngsters. As opposed to how our parents, grandparents and people from the older generation retain information, people from the younger generation find it harder to recall.
In our rapidly changing, high-pressured, distracting world, our working memory gets taxed. Its capacity is constantly overburdened and thus diminished in function. Thereby, using this as the core idea, I decided to come up with a fun and interactive way for improving memory. 2 match fun is a memory game with a twist. The game consists of a pack of 70 cards & a dice. There are 28 compound word pairs & 7 pairs of ‘roll the dice’ pairs. Each compound word pair is 10 points each, roll the dice is 20 points & bonus pairs are 30 points. The aim of the game is to win the most number of points, thus proving who has the sharpest memory
