‘FLEXPACK’ by Rahul Juneja

Thesis Abstract:

Today, most bags in India are passive objects, some adjustable but not adaptive. My design is based on creating a morphable backpack, a bag that changes form to adjust to the users needs, the more you fill the bigger it gets.

Volumetrically, the bag can easily expand to more than twice it’s size! The bag utilizes elastic properties of its materials to reduce to a minimum size possible. This ensures that the effective load of the bag is closed to the user, hence reducing load drastically. The bag uses a roll-in cover which grants easy access inside and pulls out easily to lock. The form of the backpack was derived through experimentation and simple mathematics
