Course Overview

Crafted to challenge minds, 11 months at the DI Lab are a game-changer. We believe in the power of design as a process to create impact. Nurturing Designers, Strategists and Entrepreneurs, DI is a thought-evoking process which shapes mindsets to solve for the future. Want to solve wicked and perplexing challenges with ease but not sure how? DI dives deep into Design Thinking and Human-Centricity for professionals to explore the innovators in them!

Taking Design Education in India a step beyond, we are co-creating this experience with our students, building the curriculum together. To add to this, the city of Mumbai adds its own flavor, putting across opportunities to pick on the minds constantly. Students get holistic experience, learning not just from Industry Experts but also assessing and designing for problems in their own ways.

Divided into 11 months, the program is divided into 3 semesters – Foundation, Specialization and Application. Being a multi-disciplinary class, every student brings forward a very different experience to the class, adding value to every member. A course designed for professionals, DI is a rigorous time period to alter your thought-process and help you change the way you see things. 5 days a week, classes need work on weekends as well, because time IS running fast, believe it or not!

Our program isn’t another course but an experimental lab where every new idea is challenged through collective thinking. A large part of the learning in lab involves working on live projects with industry partners with utmost importance to the design process and research tools. Teamwork and building a strong collaborative spirit are the core pillars of DI lab.

An absolutely rigorous program, DI looks to bring newer opportunities to the students, constantly. We believe hustling not just helps open the mind, but also helps students explore their hidden talents and skills. Our collaborations and workshops are aimed at bringing out the best in every student.

Philips Healthcare, Bangalore has been one of our partner, taking students through healthcare and their own take on Design Thinking – the CoCreate process. Students get to work on live industry projects, making them use skills learnt in class to work which holds immense value. Abhimanyu Kulkarni, Creative Director, has been working with our students for the last 3 years, taking them through stakeholder maps, journeys, etc. Our students are also working on live projects with MediaNet, getting trained by Anish Tripathi on User Experience and Interface.

Workshops on Service Design, Animation, Photography, Film Making, etc., are also conducted. Basis cocreation of curriculum, peripherals are turned into 1-2 workshops which give a basic understanding to students, which can be developed further in the Capstone.
